About Melissa Abraham, PhD

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

I have over 20 years of experience  in providing diagnosis and psychotherapy with compassion to adults and older adolescents.  I can provide informed recommendations to you about what type of treatment is indicated and next steps to take.

After the first session, I can assess whether my services are the appropriate level and type of care for your current symptoms and for your goals in therapy. I work with adults of all ages and mature high school students in individual therapy.

I received a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Illinois in 2002. I completed my internship and postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital, with training in inpatient, emergency room and outpatient settings, as well as intensive training in working with young adults and in the treatment of disordered eating.

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and a Staff Psychologist at Massachusetts General Hospital.  I work in the area of bioethics at MGH and the Harvard Center for Bioethics.
