About Melissa Abraham, PhD
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
I have over 25 years of experience working with adults and older adolescents in a hospital setting and in private practice. Patients often experience me as an attuned, reflective and engaged therapist who compassionately and non-judgmentally helps navigate complex internal, relational and life issues.
My experience and training give me a unique perspective on psychotherapy; one that is deeply rooted in excellence in integrating several traditions in psychotherapy that I tailor to your needs and goals.
With my primary expertise in psychodynamic therapy, I offer therapy that is tailored to you, and includes cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, and brief therapy approaches as needed.
I received a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Illinois. I completed my internship and postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital and the Mongan Institute for Health Policy, and a fellowship in Medical Ethics at Harvard Medical School. I also hold a master’s degree in public health/epidemiology and worked in clinical research and bioethics for 20 years.

I am a Staff Psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital and on the faculty at Harvard Medical School where I provide clinical supervision. My experience and training give me a unique perspective on psychotherapy; one that is deeply rooted in excellence in training in several traditions in psychotherapy practice, including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral and brief therapy approaches.
